The Elantra model dates back to 1990, it was then that the first generation of the car was introduced, which replaced the rear-wheel drive Hyundai Stellar model. In some markets, the car was also known as Lantra and Avante. Today, the assembly line is already the seventh generation of the Elantra with the factory index CN7, which premiered in the spring of 2020. The car received a bright appearance, and now it is preparing for restyling, during which its appearance can change quite noticeably.

So far, we have only a few spy photos of test samples, in which the front and rear are hidden under a thick layer of camouflage. However, new headlights are already visible in front, which in the restyled version can become “two-story” – the Korean company is now using this solution on almost all of its new products. In this case, a narrow horizontal LED strip may appear on top, a similar element was previously received by the Staria , Grandeur and Kona compact crossover.. The lower segments with the main low beam and high beam units are likely to get a simpler shape. As for the rear, there are no significant changes yet, but we decided to depict the car with updated rear optics in a more minimalist style.

The seventh generation Elantra is built on the K3 platform, which is also used by the latest generation Kia Cerato. In the home market in Korea, the sedan is offered with the same gasoline “aspirated” 1.6 MPI of the Smartstream family and gas 1.6 LPI with a capacity of 123 and 120 hp. respectively. In the US, the Elantra is available with a naturally aspirated 149-horsepower 2.0 MPI Atkinson cycle, as well as a hybrid setup consisting of a 1.6 GDI engine and a 1.32 kWh battery (without the possibility of recharging from the mains). The combined return of the hybrid is 141 hp, the declared fuel consumption is 4.7 l / 100 km. In addition, there is a  “charged” version of the N Line  with a 1.6 T-GDI petrol turbo engine, offering the same 204 hp as the previous generation Elantra Sport.

The premiere of the updated sedan is expected next year.
