Toyota Tacoma next generation: new images

The Japanese company is preparing a new generation of its mid-size pickup truck, and patent images of the model were recently published. What will change in his appearance?

The Tacoma pickup was first introduced in 1995. The model is intended primarily for the US market, but it is also presented in other countries in North and South America. In most other markets, instead of Tacoma, the well-known Hilux model in Russia is offered. Today, the third generation of the Tacoma pickup truck is on the assembly line, the presentation of which took place in early 2015 at the International Auto Show in Detroit. In 2020, the model received a restyling, and now a new generation of pickup is being prepared for the premiere.

In the available patent images, the novelty is very similar in proportions and main features to the current Tacoma, as a result of which there may be a suspicion that the new pickup will be a deep restyling of the third generation. The body design will become more faceted, more in line with other company innovations. An angular grille stands out in front, on the side – faceted wheel arches with noticeable stampings above them. The rear part will be solved in the style of another fresh Japanese company pickup truck – the third generation Tundra , presented in the fall of 2021. The younger model will receive angular lamps similar in shape, a relatively simple tailgate and an originally made rear bumper.

While there is no reliable information about the technical part of the future pickup truck. According to preliminary data, it can be built on the TGNA-F platform, which is already used by the aforementioned Tundra pickup truck and the Land Cruiser 300 SUV. The base engine can be a 269 hp 2.4 petrol 4-cylinder turbo engine. (420 Nm). A hybrid power plant, which the Lexus RX 500h has, may also appear. It is made on the basis of the same motor, the total output of the system is 370 hp. and 542 Nm of torque.

The premiere of the new generation Tacoma will take place during this year.
