At the moment, the premium SUV is available with two powertrains to choose from. Next year, the top-of-the-line plug-in hybrid will be introduced to the market.
The three-row Lexus TX crossover premiered in June. Now, in the United States, the trim levels and prices have been revealed, and the model’s configurator is live on Lexus’s local consumer website.
Recall that the TX was created specifically for North America, essentially replacing the discontinued Lexus RX L (the new generation RX does not have an extended version). The closest relative of the new premium crossover is the Toyota Grand Highlander: both models are built on the GA-K platform with a transverse engine layout. The length of the Lexus TX is either 5159 or 5169 mm (depending on the version), with the same 2949 mm wheelbase as the Grand Highlander (but this SUV is shorter).
Currently, the new Lexus is offered in two configurations. The base model, Lexus TX 350, is equipped with a 2.4-liter turbocharged inline-four engine producing 279 hp (430 Nm) and an eight-speed automatic transmission. This crossover is available with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
The Lexus TX 500h (shown in the live photos) is a full-time all-wheel-drive hybrid (without plug-in capability) with the same 2.4-liter turbocharged engine, a separate electric motor on the rear axle, and a six-speed automatic transmission. The combined output of this hybrid SUV is 371 hp and 555 Nm. The hybrid SUV comes with the F Sport Performance package and a fully adaptive suspension as standard.
In the following year, another version will arrive at dealerships – the plug-in hybrid TX 550h+ with a setup based on a 3.5-liter V6 naturally aspirated engine and an electromechanical continuously variable transmission (CVT), producing a total output of 412 hp.
The Lexus TX 350 is available in three trim levels – the unnamed base trim, Premium, and Luxury. However, only the latter two versions are offered for the Lexus TX 500h. The base configuration of the crossover includes features such as LED lighting, 20-inch wheels, a seven-passenger interior, heated front seats, power-operated rear liftgate, wireless smartphone charging, a 14-inch multimedia system display, ten airbags, and the Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 suite, which comprises adaptive cruise control, various advanced driver-assistance systems, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, and more.
Starting with the Premium trim, additional features include a panoramic roof, front seat ventilation, power-folding third-row seats, and parking assistance. The Luxury version adds further luxury with additional leather upholstery, ambient lighting, a heated steering wheel, and second-row seat heating.
Optional features for the Lexus TX include 22-inch wheels (standard on the hybrid variant), individual captain’s chairs in the second row with heating and ventilation, a virtual instrument cluster, a digital rearview mirror that displays camera footage, a traffic jam assistance system, and a head-up display.
The Lexus TX 350 is priced between $55,050 and $62,550, while the Lexus TX 500h ranges from $69,350 to $72,650. These prices include delivery but do not include taxes. For comparison, the related traditional Toyota Grand Highlander with the same 2.4T engine costs between $43,070 and $53,545, while the hybrid version of Toyota’s crossover (which shares one of its systems with the Lexus) is priced between $44,670 and $58,125 (excluding taxes and delivery).
