The Suzuki SUV got enlarged displays, plus something else on the little things. The appearance is the same, the technique of the reform was also not affected.
Japanese companies Toyota and Suzuki have been cooperating for a long time, and this partnership includes, among other things, the exchange of models and power plants. The main focus is on India and other Asian markets, but Europe is also not forgotten: since 2020, they have been selling the Suzuki Across crossover , that is, a redesigned Toyota RAV4 of the current generation. To be more precise, Across is a fusion of two Rafiks. So, the front part of the Suzuki model from the Chinese Toyota Wildlander, and the feed is already from the global cross (in the Celestial Empire, Toyota SUVs produce different joint ventures). By the way, in the Old World, there are no queues for Ekross: according to CarSalesBase statistics, 2179 units were sold in 2021, while RAV4 sold over 100,000 copies in Europe. However, here it is worth remembering that the Suzuki SUV is presented in the only top modification – in the form of an all-wheel drive rechargeable hybrid. The European Rafik has already been updated, and twice. Now it’s the turn of Across.
Unlike the donor Toyota, the Suzuki crossover has not changed outwardly (RAV4 in rich trim levels has acquired a different head optics ), except that in some countries the body color palette has been replenished with a new Platinum White Pearl metallic. The main new things inside: after the RAV4 SUV Suzuki Across received a new multimedia system with a tablet with a diagonal of 10.25 inches (previously Ekross had a 9-inch screen) and a wireless Apple CarPlay interface. In addition, the model got a full-fledged 12.3-inch virtual “tidy” (again, like the Toyota RAV4; the pre-reform Across has a 7-inch display between analog scales). As before, the Suzuki Across arsenal still includes diode headlights, heated seats, an electric tailgate, dual-zone climate control, an auto-braking system and adaptive cruise control.
The technology is the same, it is, of course, from a similar RAV4. The Suzuki Across crossover is equipped with a 2.5 “aspirated” engine operating on the Atkinson economy cycle, and an electric motor with 182 hp works in tandem with it. (motors rotate the front wheels through an electromechanical variator), and a separate 54 hp electric motor is installed on the rear axle. The total return of the SUV is 306 hp. Under the floor of the cabin there is a battery with a capacity of 18.1 kWh, only on electric traction the SUV can travel about 75 km (according to the WLTP cycle).
In Europe, they are already accepting orders for a modernized Suzuki Across: in France, for example, such a crossover costs 57,990 euros (a rechargeable all-wheel drive hybrid Toyota RAV4 costs from 52,950 euros there, but the donor SUV has simpler configurations). Deliveries of machines to customers will begin in January next year.
