Honda has unveiled the eleventh-generation Accord midsize sedan for the North American market, with sales in early 2023.
The design of the Accord in the new generation has become more strict, but as if more old-fashioned, that is, from some angles, the “tenth” Accord seems to be a younger model. If the calculation was for pensioners, then the approach is correct, young people now prefer crossovers and electric cars. The wheelbase has not changed with the change of generations – 2830 mm, the overall length has decreased by 10 mm to 4971 mm (this is when compared with the restyled “tenth” Accord , and if with the pre-styling, it increased by 71 mm), the width and height are the same – 1862 and 1450 mm respectively. Trunk volume has not changed either – 473 liters according to the SAE method.
In the chassis as a whole, everything is also the same: the front suspension is of the McPherson type, the rear is multi-link, the rigidity of the supports is slightly increased for more precise handling, while the smoothness of the ride, according to Honda’s PR people, has become better. Regular wheels – 17- or 19-inch.
Inside, we see a laconic front panel in the spirit of all the latest Honda innovations for America, the air ducts form a single line decorated with a grid, a separate climate control unit with round handles has been preserved, but the push-button transmission mode selector on the central tunnel has given way to a traditional lever, the knob of which is 5 degrees is tilted towards the driver, which makes it seem bent out of habit.
All configurations have 10 airbags, a Honda Sensing electronic driver assistance system and a virtual 10.2-inch instrument panel, which can be supplemented with a 6-inch projection screen. The central multimedia screen in the initial configurations has a modest diagonal of 7 inches, in more expensive ones – 12.3 inches, you can update the software “over the air”.
