The history of the model began in 2015, then it appeared under the name MKX. However, already in 2017, the crossover survived restyling and changed its name to Nautilus. The second time the car survived the update at the end of 2020: then the developers worked on the interior and corrected the appearance of the Nautilus. Note that in the home market, the crossover sold 24,443 copies last year (7.5% more than a year earlier). In the first ten months of this year, Americans bought 18,127 cars (12.1% less than in January-October 2021).

Now the company is preparing the second generation Lincoln Nautilus. It is assumed that the novelty will appear next year, and it is planned to sell it, as now, both in the American and Chinese markets. The appearance of the next generation crossover in the company has not yet been officially declassified, but the pictures of the new Nautilus were in the database of the Chinese Ministry of Industry, so now its exterior is no longer a secret.

Judging by the published photos, the next generation Nautilus will borrow some of the design solutions from the Lincoln Zephyr sedan: it has a radiator grille similar in shape and pattern, and head optics are similarly designed. So, the SUV has the same luminous strip that connects the headlights across the entire width of the “grill” and closes on the brand logo. Also, the car was redesigned with an air intake integrated into the lower part of the front bumper, and the doors were equipped with retractable handles.

The car in the pictures has black pillars, side mirror housings of the same color, which are attached to the doors with separate legs, as well as a black roof and similar roof rails. A different type of taillights are interconnected by a thick solid line, on which there is an inscription with the brand name. Reflectors and the lower part of the stern are decorated differently (now with a hidden exhaust pipe). Customers will be offered a choice of wheels in sizes 19, 20 and 21 inches.

During the generation change, the crossover has grown in size. So, the length became more by 59 mm (up to 4908 mm), the width – by 18 mm (up to 1952 mm), the height – by 24 mm (up to 1717 mm). The distance between the axles has also increased: the new Lincoln Nautilus has a wheelbase of 2900 mm, which is 50 mm longer than its predecessor.

According to the database of the Chinese Ministry of Industry, the local new Nautilus will receive a 2.0-liter turbo engine, the return of which is 261 hp, as a “filling”. It will be paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The crossover was promised all-wheel drive.

Recall that in the United States, the current base front-wheel drive Nautilus is equipped with a 2.0-liter EcoBoost petrol “turbo-four” (253 hp, 380 Nm), and the top-end all-wheel drive version is equipped with a 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 petrol (340 hp, 515 Nm). Both engines are offered complete with 8AKP. What will be the “stuffing” of the American version of the new generation crossover will become known later.
